Arrowe Park Hospital powered by Perkins
Diperk Power Solutions, Perkins Gas Centre of Excellence in Great Britain, has successfully tendered for the installation and ongoing servicing of a 4016-61TRS1 gas engine at Arrowe Park Hospital in Liverpool. The hospital serves over half a million people a year, and has over 5,000 members of staff.
The engine is driving a combined heat and power generator set, replacing a Perkins 4016TESI which had clocked up more than 104,000 hours' service.
Since early September 2012 the new engine has been running at 95 per cent capacity, has clocked up more than 2,000 hours and is saving the hospital £1,000 per day.
Diperk worked on the installation with DEIF (UK) Ltd, which produces control instrumentation on large generation (or G59) applications. The unit is primarily being used as the lead boiler for the entire hospital and features remote monitoring around the clock via a 'Netbiter' system. This project has highlighted that Diperk is rapidly becoming a leading supplier of gas engines and service solutions within Great Britain.
